Descriptions

The spectacular KwaZulu Natal province in South Africa is widely regarded as a cultural melting pot due to the unique blend of African, European and Indian influences, named after the Zulu nation, who have resided here for a few centuries.

KwaZulu Natal is known for its stunning natural wonders and wildlife reserves; KwaZulu Natal plays host to the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Mountains, iSimangaliso Wetland Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, Royal Natal National Park, Oribi Gorge, the Natal Midlands and numerous “Big Five” private game reserve options.

The three top attractions/destinations that most travellers to the province will be looking at are the Natal Battlefields, Zululand and the famed Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve.

For history buffs, KwaZulu Natal is a must-visit destination. The province played a significant role in South African history and is home to numerous historical sites, including the Battlefields of the Anglo-Boer and Zulu wars. Battlefield sites include Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift and Spionkop, to mention only a few.

A visit to KwaZulu Natal would only be complete with a visit to Zululand—a region steeped in traditions and where you can immerse yourself entirely in Zulu culture. Zululand also offers travellers an untamed wilderness with numerous private “big 5” game reserves and warm Indian Ocean beaches that stretch for miles in either direction.

One of the oldest game reserves in Africa is the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. It was established in 1895 as a royal hunting ground for King Shaka. Today, KwaZulu Natal remains one of South Africa’s most popular holiday and safari destinations.

The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park is an ideal destination for photography enthusiasts who appreciate beautiful landscapes and diverse wildlife, one of South Africa’s best National Parks.

KwaZulu Natal is a travel destination that leaves a lasting impression on each and every visitor. The province’s unique blend of cultures, rich history and natural wonders make it a must-visit for any traveller seeking a memorable African experience.
