Our story began in 1991, sparked by founder Doug Lofland’s deep love for planning adventures that inspire awe, connection, and self-discovery. After years of running successful tours across Europe and beyond, the business was reborn in 2018 with a renewed mission: to deliver travel experiences that are emotionally rich, culturally immersive, and far from ordinary.
Doug’s journey—from planning his wife’s graduation trip in a D.C. parking garage in the 90s to building a career rooted in passion—has shaped every aspect of what we do. This isn’t mass-market travel. We’re not for everyone, and that’s okay. Our travelers want to think, feel, explore, and walk away changed.
